Designing at Another Scale

FII was a particularly significant project for us, both for its scale and for the creative partnership through which it emerged.

The project was developed with Superbien at a moment when the agency was seeking to place scenography at the heart of its creative practice. Together, we explored what could happen when spatial design was treated not simply as the setting for an event, but as one of its central forms of expression.

Saudi Arabia offered an exceptional context for this ambition. The scale of the event, the technological resources involved and the freedom afforded to the design created a field of experimentation that is rarely available elsewhere. Dimensions could become monumental, technical ideas could be pushed further, and scenography could be imagined with very few conventional limits.

The result was an organic environment situated at the intersection of data, technology and futurism. Rather than using technology as a decorative layer, the design sought to give it a spatial and almost living presence—creating a stage architecture that felt both highly technical and constantly in motion.

This freedom of scale allowed us to embrace Superbien’s ambition to remain at the forefront of creative innovation, extending its expertise into the fields of spatial conception and scenography. The collaboration gave us the opportunity to experiment openly and to develop a project whose ambition could be carried through into production without losing its original intensity.

Seeing the finished stage host some of the world’s most influential entrepreneurs and business leaders gave the project an additional and quite unusual dimension. It is not often that a scenographic concept becomes the setting for voices with such global reach.

We warmly thank Superbien for inviting us into this process, for trusting us with such an ambitious project and for sharing with us the desire to explore what scenography can become when scale, technology and creative freedom are brought together.
